After most of the licensure exams were canceled this year due to COVID-19 threat, Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) said that they are now looking into conducting online board exams next year.
In a Senate Finance Committee hearing on the budget of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) on Thursday, PRC chairman Teofilo Pilando Jr. said the commission is indeed eyeing to go online with their exams.
“Yes, Your Honor, we are looking at using more technology-based examinations,” Pilando said, as a reply to a query by Senator Francis Tolentino.
Pilando added that the PRC is still preparing for that online shift and will administer it with smaller board exams first.
“We might be able to start with the smaller boards, which will be more manageable,” he said.
On September 16, PRC announced the postponement of licensure examinations for various Boards and resetting them to 2021. This is due to government-imposed restrictions and other unforeseeable circumstances because of extended community quarantines, and also to ensure the health and safety of examinees, Professional Regulatory Boards (PRBs), and examination personnel.
PRC started canceling the board exams due to COVID-19 threat in March when most of the areas in the country were placed in enhanced community quarantine.
