Department of Health (DOH) is continuously hiring medical frontliners to augment the country’s health workforce while battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
All over the country, DOH is hiring physicians as medical specialists and medical officers, nurses, nursing attendants, respiratory therapists, radiologic technologists, medical technologists, medical equipment technicians, admin assistants such as encoders, and ambulance driver aides.
In Region 6 – Western Visayas, DOH listed the following available positions and their respective areas (as of September 8):
Medical Specialist II – Salary Grade 23 (P75,359++): Bugasong, Antique; Lambunao, Iloilo; Janiuay, Iloilo;
Medical Officer III – Salary Grade 21 (P59,353++): Guimbal, Leganes, San Miguel, Pototan, Zarraga, San Enrique, Maasin, Miagao, Lemery, San Dionisio, San Joaquin, Tubungan, and Mina in Iloilo; Bago, Cadiz, Kabankalan, Valladolid, Hinoba-an, Isabela in Negros Occidental;
Dumalag, Panit-an, Cuartero, and Roxas City in Capiz; Nabas and Tangalan in Aklan; Tibiao in Antique; and Jordan, Guimaras.
Nurse II – Salary Grade 15 (P32,053++): Sta. Barbara, Igbaras, Pototan, Zarraga, Anilao, San Joaquin, and Mina in Iloilo; Kabankalan and Isabel in Negros Occidental; Panit-an in Capiz; and Jordan, Guimaras.
Administrative Assistant II (Encoder) – Salary Grade 8 (P17,505++): Pototan, Iloilo; and EB Magalona, Sagay, Sipalay, Hinobaan and La Carlota, Negros Occidental.
Nursing Attendant II – Salary Grade 6 (P15,524++): Isabela, Kabankalan, Sipalay, and Hinobaan in Negros Occidental.
Administrative Aide IV (Ambulance Driver) – Salary Grade 4 (P13,807++): Valladolid, Sipalay, and Hinobaan in Negros Occidental.
Medical Equipment Technician III (Mechanical Ventilator Technician) – Salary Grade 11 (P22,316++): Sipalay, Negros Occidental.

Bayanihan 2 Law Compensation and Benefits
The DOH hiring for more health workers as medical frontliners is provided in the pending “Bayanihan to Recover as One Act” or the Bayanihan 2 Law which will be signed by the President in the next few days.
Once signed, health personnel will be entitled to receive additional compensation and benefits such as P15,000 should they be afflicted as mild or moderate COVID-19 case, life insurance coverage, and be entitled to a mandatory COVID-19 testing every 15 days. Here’s the list of compensation and benefits under the Bayanihan 2 Law:
- Basic pay/month plus 20% premium of basic salary per month
- Transportation and communication allowance
- Hospitalization shouldered by Philhealth
- P100,000 in sickness with severe case due to COVID-19
- P1,000,000 in death due to COVID-19
- P15,000 in sickness with mild or moderate case due to COVID-19 (retroactive)
- P300 PHIC premium per month
- Actual hazard duty pay (for HCW directly catering or in contact with COVID-19; to be given in addition to Hazard Pay from Magna Carta, regardless of quarantine status)
- COVID-19 Special Risk Allowance per month (for HCW directly catering or in contact with COVID-19)
- Life Insurance
- Meals and accommodation, care of hiring facility/CHD
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Mandatory COVID-19 testing every 15 days

Note: The hiring health facility may require additional documents. The HR / Personnel Office of the hiring health facilities will notify the short-listed applicants within 5 working days upon receipt of requirements.
In the exigency of service during the state of National Health Emergency, DOH will implement emergency hiring of health workers through Contract of Service, as mandated under Sec (m) of the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act (Republic Act No. 11469) on “temporary engagement of Human Resources for Health to complement or supplement the current health workforce or to man the temporary medical facilities to be established. Successful applicants will be hired for 3 months under Contract of Service, renewable as needed.
