March 2018 ALS A&E Test Results

The Department of Education (DepEd) has successfully administered the Alternative Learning System Accreditation and Equivalency (ALS A&E) Test this March 2018, and the results of the exam will be posted here once released.

The ALS A&E Test, formerly known as the Non-formal Education A&E Test, is a paper and pencil test designed to measure the competencies of those who have neither attended nor finished elementary or secondary education in the formal school system.

Learners in the ALS and Nonformal Education Programs, out-of-school children and youth who are prepared for assessment, and adults who are seeking Certification of Learning may take the A&E Test.

The test is given in two levels: Elementary, with applicants at least 12 years old; and Secondary (Junior High School), with examinees at least 16 years old.

The recent ALS A&E Test (this one is for 2017) was previously scheduled on February, but DepEd issued Memo No. 006 series of 2018 moving the test to March 4 for Luzon and March 11 for Visayas and Mindanao examinees.

Just like in the November 2017 ALS Test, it is all multiple choice only, no essay. The DepEd Order No. 55, s. 2016 setting the passing score at 75% is still suspended as announced by Secretary Leonor Briones, meaning the passing score is at 60%.

ALS A&E LIST OF PASSERS
We will post the complete names of those who successfully passed the test here as soon as it is announced, so keep checking this page for updates.

When will the results be released? In December 2017, Undersecretary Jesus Lorenzo Mateo issued Memorandum OM-PFO-2017-1277 to Regional Directors and Schools Division Superintendents setting the target date of release to April 30, 2018, but I think that is not likely to happen. The same Memo said that the November 2017 ALS Test passers be released on or before January 31, but the results came out February 8.

Based on DepEd Memo No. 006 series of 2018 issued January 18, the ALS A&E Test Results for March exam “will be released not more than 3 months after the date of examination, and test takers will receive Certificate of Rating (COR) through schools division offices (SDOs) or district offices (DOs).”

Three months after March 11 is June 11. So we are expecting that they will released the list of passers on or before that date.

According to Maam ‎Maria Mercedes Arzadon‎, UP Professor and ALS advocate, sources at Deped Central Office say that they are trying to come out with the complete results before the deadline of submission of Senior High School (SHS) Voucher application.

Deped has set the SHS Voucher application deadline for ALS Test passers at June 15.
