Most Filipino families nowadays need a computer that will be used for the work-from-home setup of parents or online distance learning of children. To serve this need, the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has come up with a Computer Loan Program in which qualified members may borrow P30,000.
The GSIS Computer Loan is a one-time loan that aims to financially aid members to buy their own desktop of laptop PCs. Even members who have already purchased a computer before the program was launched may apply for the loan. They just need to declare to the GSIS coordinator in their office, called Agency Authorized Officer (AAO), the type of computer they purchased.
The Computer Loan is proposed to be offered for a period of six months and the payment term is three years with an interest rate of 6 percent per annum. The amortization will be automatically deducted from the borrower’s salary.
Qualifications
Active members who have paid at least three months of premiums may apply for GSIS Computer Loan; They must have permanent appointment and are not on leave of absence without pay. Applicants must have no pending administrative or criminal case and have no arrears under the GSIS Financial Assistance Loan (GFAL). Also they should have no past due GSIS loan except housing loan.
In addition, they should have a net take-home pay of not lower than the amount required under the General Appropriations Act after all monthly obligations have been deducted and they must not be under agencies tagged as suspended.
How to apply for GSIS Computer Loan
1. Over the counter. Members may apply for computer loan at all GSIS branches and extension offices nationwide.
2. Online. Members may download the application form, fill it up and email it together with clear picture of borrower holding GSIS UMID eCard (or temporary eCard) in JPEG or PDF to the following emails (maximum of 2MB per email):

Computer loan proceeds will be directly credited to the borrower’s GSIS eCard or Unified Multipurpose Identification (UMID) card. A text message or email will be sent by GSIS to the borrower once the loan has been e-credited.
A Loan Redemption Insuarance (LRI) in the amont of P360.00 shall be deducted from the proceeds of the loan.
The AAO of the borrower’s agency, aside from approving the loan, will be requested to submit a monthly feedback report to GSIS to ensure that the proceeds of the loan has actually been used for the purchase of a computer.
